Aix-Marseille University has undertaken the modernization of its training materials by integrating innovative digital technologies such as augmented reality and 3D modeling. The project entrusted to us aims to create an ambitious application enabling students to interact with various resources, including virtual objects, thereby enhancing their learning experience alongside the courses provided by their instructors.

Aix-Marseille University (AMU) is one of the largest French-speaking universities, created in 2012 through the merger of three institutions: the University of Provence, the University of the Mediterranean, and Paul Cézanne University. This union strengthened its academic and scientific resources, enhancing its visibility both nationally and internationally.
Its origins date back to 1409, with the founding of the University of Aix-en-Provence by Louis II of Provence. Initially focused on law, it expanded its fields of study over the centuries, alongside the University of Marseille, founded in 1896 and dedicated to science and medicine. After separating in 1969, the three institutions came together again in 2012 to form AMU.
Today, the university welcomes around 80,000 students and includes 19 faculties, schools, and institutes spread across five main campuses in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. It plays a key role in research and innovation, contributing to numerous international projects and implementing sustainable development initiatives.
AMU continues to strengthen its international reputation, ranking among the world’s top 200 universities in the Shanghai Ranking. Through the “Campus Sud” project, the university is modernizing its facilities to enhance its attractiveness and commitment to addressing contemporary societal challenges.
The project was initiated following Aix-Marseille University’s desire to integrate innovative technologies into its teaching approach in order to enhance learning and improve student engagement. Faced with the limitations of traditional training materials, the university wanted to provide a more interactive and immersive experience, capable of capturing attention and promoting better knowledge retention.
The objective was to design an intuitive application that would go beyond the use of conventional learning materials by encouraging student interest and engagement. It integrates features such as 3D object visualization, interactive training modules, geolocation for field-based exercises, and a notification system to keep users engaged. Custom 3D scenes created by our team are also available within the application.
The project aims to transform the learning experience while remaining simple and user-friendly.
To meet the needs of Aix-Marseille University, we developed a mobile augmented reality (AR) application available on iOS and Android, compatible with smartphones and tablets. The application aims to enhance traditional teaching methods by providing an immersive experience that captures students’ attention and encourages engagement. Easy to use, it enables both educators and students to access interactive and innovative educational content.
The application includes several key features: an intuitive onboarding process to facilitate user adoption, access to educational modules, consultation of various multimedia resources, exploration of 3D objects, as well as custom 3D scenes created by STRATEGIA, allowing users to study complex phenomena in greater depth. It also includes geolocation features for field-based activities.
Alongside the mobile application, a SaaS-based Back Office was developed for educators, accessible from any desktop web browser. This interface allows trainers to create and manage educational content available within the mobile application, monitor student activity, and control access to different resources.
This complete solution ensures a smooth user experience and easy adoption, providing significant added value to teaching and learning practices within the university.
