AirAsia is the largest low-cost airline in Southeast Asia, founded in 1993 and headquartered in Malaysia. With a network of more than 165 destinations across 25 countries, AirAsia has established itself as a key player in regional and international air travel. The airline is recognized for its accessible positioning, strong brand identity, and ability to make air travel more affordable for millions of passengers every year. Its commitment to fleet renewal and expansion reflects an ambitious growth strategy, driven by a clear vision: connecting people across Asia and beyond with efficiency and modernity.
Airbus is Europe’s leading aircraft manufacturer and one of the two global leaders in the aerospace industry, alongside Boeing. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Toulouse, Airbus designs, manufactures, and markets civil and military aircraft for airlines and governments around the world. The A220-300, at the heart of this project, is a next-generation aircraft with 130 to 160 seats, renowned for its outstanding economic and environmental performance: reduced fuel consumption, a lower noise footprint, and a spacious cabin offering superior passenger comfort in its category.
To support the historic signing of 150 Airbus A220-300 aircraft in Mirabel, Canada, AirAsia needed a powerful 3D video to officially reveal the aircraft during this globally significant event. The challenge was twofold: deliver a visually outstanding video meeting the standards of two internationally renowned brands, while completing the project within just one week — an exceptionally ambitious timeline for a project of this scale.
In this context, STRATEGIA was commissioned to manage the entire 3D production process, in collaboration with Studio Ogham, a trusted partner for this type of demanding project. This collaboration brought together complementary expertise and ensured a fast, structured response to meet the urgency of the brief.
The production of the video was structured around several key stages:
Storyboarding: Definition of the narrative structure and visual flow of the video, identifying key shots, transitions, and overall pacing, while aligning with the communication guidelines of both brands.
Aircraft modeling: High-detail 3D reconstruction of the Airbus A220-300, including the fuselage, engines, nacelles, landing gear, windows, and official AirAsia livery, while respecting the strict brand guidelines imposed by both companies.
Environment modeling: Creation of the 3D environments surrounding the aircraft, including the runway, sky, natural lighting, and outdoor atmospheres, placing the aircraft in a realistic and cinematic setting.
Livery modeling: Precise application of AirAsia’s branding elements on the fuselage — logo, typography, colors, and positioning — ensuring full compliance with the airline’s visual identity.
Aircraft animation: Creation of smooth and realistic aircraft movements, including taxiing, takeoff, flight sequences, and dynamic camera movements designed to highlight the aircraft’s design.
Transition design: Integration of transitions between sequences to ensure a fluid narrative and a cinematic experience consistent with the prestige of the event.
Post-production: Color grading, visual effects, graphic integration, audio mixing, and final export in a format suitable for event broadcasting.
All these stages were completed within one week, requiring the team’s full agility and precision. 3D provided a decisive advantage over traditional filming: complete control over storytelling, unlimited creative freedom without logistical constraints, and the ability to iterate quickly until the final result was achieved.
The video was showcased at an international event in Mirabel, in front of key players from the aerospace industry, making this production one of STRATEGIA’s most emblematic projects to date.
