Players’ names and numbers appear in real time, making it easy to identify athletes on the virtual court. This feature offers a unique perspective, similar to that of a coach analyzing game strategy from an overhead view.

The NBA is innovating with a seamless and synchronized experience through Tabletop. Although there may be a slight delay, a synchronization option allows users to correct this offset. Available through NBA League Pass, this fully interactive experience enables fans to experience the game in an immersive and engaging way.
Applications in other sports
XR innovation is not limited to basketball. A similar project, called Lapz, has been developed for Formula 1, offering an immersive experience with a 3D replica of the circuit placed on a table, featuring real-time cars. Statistics and pit stop strategies are displayed, while instant replays allow fans to relive the highlights of the Grand Prix.
Similarly, football could benefit from XR, with animated 3D pitches and players represented by animated avatars. Live statistics, camera views, and instant 3D replays could transform the way fans experience and follow the sport.
